About Us
faqs
  1. Who provides the funding for your programs?

Church groups, foundations, service clubs, individual donors and corporations.

  2. Isn't the corner of 35th Street and Lisbon Avenue in a dangerous neighborhood?

Anyone who reads a newspaper knows that inner cities have more problems than suburban communities, but many decent men, women and children live in the central city and live worthy lives. St. Andrew's Church and Community Center is a new, safe and secure facility. We know our neighbors, and the location is considered a "safe sanctuary" for those who come there. The people and facility are very user-friendly, especially to guests. For those who do not frequently drive through the central city of Milwaukee, the neighborhood may appear threatening, but violent crime has not been an issue for us.

  3. Where do you get your volunteers?

ONG volunteers come from churches, corporations, service groups, local universities and largely through the word-of-mouth approach between our current group of volunteers. Our goal is to visit at least two groups per month to recruit new volunteers.

  4. How are students recruited?

ONG programs serve children living within an eight block radius of St. Andrew's Church. Many of our students are referred to us by teachers at nearby MPS schools, such as Westside Academy. At times, families who are currently involved recommend Our Next Generation programs to their friends and neighbors. We are closely connected to our neighborhood organization, Lisbon Avenue Neighborhood Development, and the nearby churches, so they also refer students to us.

  5. What is the relationship between St. Andrew's and Our Next Generation?

Our Next Generation is a separate 501(c)(3) corporation which grew out of the church community of St. Andrew's. St. Andrew's Church and Community Center provides a safe and sacred space for ONG programs. We are interdependent and separate entities. We share the building but have unique and complementary missions. We share the community spirit amidst our respective programs.

  6. How can I contribute to Our Next Generation?

Please come as a volunteer anytime, pray for us or send your financial contributions. See our Volunteer and Donate pages pages to complete an online form.
