Youth Literacy Specialist

The Youth Literacy Specialist will oversee the implementation of the agency’s after school literacy program. The literacy program primarily targets children first grade through high school with an emphasis on elementary school grade students. The specialist will work with the program management staff, program leaders, and tutors to coordinate lesson planning and program delivery within our after school enrichment and tutoring programs including: staff and tutor training, conduct and analyze student reading assessments, compile and report student progress data.
Days: early afternoons, Monday and Wednesday (Tuesday or Thursday possible)
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Rate of pay: $15 per hour
Requirements:
- Current, or previous teaching certification, elementary education or reading specialist preferred. Certification outside the state of Wisconsin acceptable.
- Classroom experience preferred.
- Experience in an urban school or with disadvantaged youth preferred, but not necessary
- Valid Driver's License - Good driving record
- High School diploma with some college preferred

Coaches/Program Leaders
We are seeking program leaders to guide students (K-12th grade) in academic and enrichment programs. Experience in one or more of the following areas desired: Homework help/academic support, art, dance/movement, music, theater arts, recreation, coaching (basketball, softball, cheerleading, football), and personal development. Must be dependable, punctual, and possess at strong work ethic. Some positions may require driving students to field trips in agency vehicles.
Location(s): Positions available at all agency sites: Westside Academy I and II,
Our Next Generation Neighborhood Center, 3421 W. Lisbon.
Hours: Various depending on site but generally 2:30 to 5:30 Monday through Friday. Some positions report until 6:30PM. Part time/school year

Qualifications:
Previous experience working with youth providing academic support, enrichment personal development and recreational programs in a classroom or after school setting.
- High school graduate
- Some college or equivalent work experience (recommended 40 hours of advanced training)
- Basic computer knowledge
- Basic cooking skills appreciated
- Valid Driver License with good driving record. A CDL is highly preferred.
- Some positions require driving a passenger vehicle to field trips or other student transport
- Dependable, punctual and strong work ethic

Program Driver/Leader
Seeking a driver possessing a valid CDL with passenger certification or in the process of obtaining this certification. Experience working with children desired to provide transportation to our students to and from our program sites and to field trips utilizing our agency 15 passenger vans and 18 passenger bus. Driver would support the program team between routes by assisting with student activities, helping serve meals, and greeting visitors in our reception area.
Hours: 15-20 hours per week after school. Generally 1:30-7:30PM. Monday through Thursday. Part time/school year.
Positions available:
School year, Part-time, 15-20 hours per week, afternoons with shifts starting at 1:00 and 2:30PM.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with youth preferred
- High school graduate
- Basic computer knowledge helpful, but not required
- Valid Driver License with good driving record. A CDL with passenger certification is required.
